What is Quantum Leap Pianos Bosendorfer 290 Platinum for?
The Bosendorfer 290 Platinum is a virtual instrument designed to reproduce the character of a grand concert piano with a mellow, rich, and enveloping timbre. It excels in productions seeking an elegant presence rather than an aggressive brightness: classical music, cinematic, ambient, pop ballads, jazz, and intimate accompaniments. Using the sustain pedal reveals a depth and breadth that can fill an arrangement like a true orchestral section.
Main Features
Fine dynamics, designed for real playing
Each note benefits from a large number of velocity layers, including variations dedicated to fast repetitions. The repetition samples come from performances at 180 BPM to achieve a natural bounce, with software capable of detecting true repetitions to avoid the "copy-paste" effect and maintain the illusion of a performer.
Complete articulations and realistic pedals
The piano includes several essential articulations (sustain, repetitions, staccato, soft pedal), and goes further with a pedal resonance recorded for each note at different velocities, including with the soft pedal. The release samples and release trails enhance the mechanical and room feel, for credible note endings both in solo and in a mix.
Mixing and control "like in the studio"
You can adjust the sound directly within the software: mixing of microphone positions, lid position simulation, and stereo swap to adapt the stereo image to your project. An articulation matrix facilitates loading and speeds up workflow, particularly useful in composition and production for picture.

Questions frequently asked
Is the Eastwest Bosendorfer 290 Platinum compatible with macOS and major plugin formats?
The specified requirements include OS X 10.7 or later, 8 GB of RAM, and a minimum Intel Core 2 Duo 2.1 GHz processor. Supported formats are VST2, VST3, AU, and AAX; PPC processors are not supported.
What type of piano sound does this library offer?
The sound aims to emulate a grand concert piano with a mellow, rich, and enveloping tone. This character suits classical scores, film music, pop ballads, and jazz.
How many velocity layers are available?
Up to 18 velocity layers per note are available for sustain and sustain with pedal. Repetitions have 8 to 12 layers, while the soft pedal features 5 to 8 layers.
Are fast repetitions supported?
Repetition samples performed at 180 BPM are included. The software detects repetitions to apply dedicated articulations, with or without pedal.
Can microphone positions and pedal resonance be adjusted?
It is possible to mix microphone positions, simulate lid position, and invert the stereo image. Pedal resonance is recorded per note at multiple velocities, including with the soft pedal. Release samples and release trails complete the note endings.
