A New EBS Rack Head Expected: The "High Dynamics" Approach in the 802 Version

Designed to meet the demand for a modern, powerful, and rack-mountable head, the EBS 802 High Dynamics Bass Amp aligns with the brand's philosophy: fast, precise reproduction with a wide range of adjustment to sculpt the sound without losing attack. Made in Sweden, it features an analog preamp architecture paired with a Class D power stage, housed in a 19-inch (3U) chassis designed for professional configurations.

For Which Bassists and Contexts?

The EBS 802 targets bassists who want a head capable of covering multiple styles with a single amp: pop, rock, funk, metal, modern jazz, gospel, fusion... Its power reserve and versatile EQ make it particularly relevant for rehearsal and stage use, while remaining very comfortable in the studio thanks to dedicated XLR outputs. The extended controls are also a real plus for 5- or 6-string instruments, where managing the low end and definition in the mids is essential.

Total Control: Extended EQ, Character Filters, and Remote Controls

The EBS 802 preamp is designed to offer fine mix control: the low-mids and high-mids each have a level control with a semi-parametric frequency, perfect for cleaning up resonance, bringing out growl, or locking the bass with the kick drum. The bass and treble sections go beyond a classic EQ thanks to their frequency band selectors, allowing you to adapt the tonal foundation to your cabinet, bass, and tuning.

To shape character without overloading the EQ, the amp includes Low boost and High boost switches, as well as a Filter Character for quick access to more stylized response curves. The Bright control completes the set with a very practical effect on brilliance, comparable to a "tweeter-type" management to gain presence and definition. Finally, a Drive control adds grit, and the compressor/limiter (with activation LED) helps stabilize dynamics, secure peaks, and reinforce the foundation when playing fingerstyle, with a pick, or slap.

The Sound

With its transistor design and Class D amplification, the EBS 802 aims for a fast, articulate, and highly controllable response: clean tones with headroom, solid lows, and excellent midrange clarity. Increasing the Drive produces a more modern and controlled saturation, ideal for thickening the sound without crushing it. The compressor/limiter allows anything from simple dynamic smoothing to a more "held" feel, particularly useful when seeking a consistent and present bass in the mix.
