The essentials to know about the Eko Ranger 6 Black guitar

  • A great Eko classic with an immediately recognizable look, featuring its "moustache" pickguard.

  • Dreadnought (Western) format: power, projection, and generous bass to accompany both pick playing and strumming.

  • Modern comfort: glued neck with a "C low profile" shape and double-action truss rod to adjust the action.

  • Outstanding value for money: a robust folk guitar designed to last and play without complications.

An Eko legend born in 1960s Italy

The Ranger 6 is part of the lineage of iconic models that marked the 1960s and 1970s. Originating from Eko's Italian workshops, it has evolved over time (J-52, J-54, then Ranger VI) while preserving what defines its identity: a unique aesthetic and a reputation for solidity. Within the range, it represents the essential "standard" folk guitar, available in numerous versions and finishes.

Who is the Ranger 6 Black for?

Ideal for beginners on a genuine steel-string folk guitar, the Ranger 6 inspires confidence thanks to its easy playability and immediately "full" sound. It is also well suited for the intermediate guitarist looking for an effective dreadnought for rhythm playing, rehearsals, home use, or as a backup guitar. Preferred styles: pop, rock, folk, variety, vocal accompaniment.

The sound

With its spruce top, the Ranger 6 emphasizes clarity and attack, which helps to clearly separate chords and maintain definition when using a pick. The linden back and sides provide a balanced character, with a consistent response and good sustain, ideal for a guitar made to be played often. The Dreadnought format, wide and deep, highlights generous bass, solid mids, and softer highs, while the X bracing contributes to projection and overall dynamics.

Recommended compatible accessories

To stay as close as possible to the original setup, favor a set of 11-52 bronze steel folk strings. You can also add picks (from flexible to rigid depending on the desired attack) and a universal clip-on tuner, practical and perfectly suited for an acoustic guitar.
