A Reimagined Prophecy: The "Inspired by Gibson" Tradition in High-Performance Mode
The Prophecy Extura is part of the next-generation Epiphone Prophecy collection, designed for guitarists seeking the "Inspired by Gibson" aesthetic with decidedly modern features. The Extura revisits iconic lines and adds a more aggressive ergonomics, tailored for modern playing without sacrificing the visual identity and "rock" spirit of the series.
Who Is It For, and What Styles?
This electric guitar is mainly aimed at intermediate to advanced players looking for precision, comfort, and versatility in band or studio settings. Its easy access to the highest frets, fast neck, and multiple tonal options make it an excellent foundation for modern rock, hard rock, metal, prog, as well as more nuanced sounds when utilizing the voicing and split options.
Tone
At the heart of the Extura, the pair of proprietary Fishman Fluence pickups offers a very wide palette: a warm vintage humbucker "PAF"-style voice, a sharper and more powerful modern voice, and a clearer, shimmering optimized single-coil mode. Control is simple via a Master Volume and a Master Tone, each equipped with push/pull for advanced pickup settings. The mahogany body and neck promote a dense response with good sustain, while the ebony fingerboard enhances attack and definition. Finally, the LockTone Tune-O-Matic bridge and stopbar tailpiece contribute to solid note hold, ideal for heavy chords as well as fast leads.
Recommended Compatible Accessories
To maintain the original feel, choose a set of electric strings with gauges 10-46. A quality 6.35 mm / 1/4" instrument jack cable and a selection of picks (from flexible to stiff depending on your attack) will perfectly complement the setup.
