The Essentials to Know About the Epiphone Futura Les Paul Custom Midnight Ember Shift Guitar

  • Spectacular Chromashift Look "Midnight Ember Shift": a Les Paul Custom designed for stage, video, and modern studios.

  • Premium Comfort: Modern C neck profile, modern contoured heel, and compound radius fingerboard for effortless chord changes and bends.

  • Extended Sonic Versatility: ProBucker Ignite humbuckers with push/pull for coil splitting and phase reversal.

  • Pro Reliability: stainless steel frets, LockTone Tune-O-Matic bridge and Stop Bar tailpiece, Grover Rotomatic locking tuners.

A Les Paul Custom Oriented Toward the Futura Era

The Futura Les Paul Custom is part of Epiphone's new Futura series: the idea isn't to rewrite the Les Paul DNA but to update it with clearly "performance" oriented playing and equipment choices. It retains the silhouette and elegance of a Custom, enhanced with contemporary elements (stainless steel frets, compound radius, more flexible electronics) and a Chromashift finish designed to catch the light and draw the eye, whether you're playing on stage, in the studio, or on camera.

This "Inspired by Gibson" approach targets today's guitarists who want an instrument ready to record, tour, and endure heavy use, while maintaining the familiar Les Paul feel: generous sustain, solid attack, and presence in the mix.

Who Is This Futura Les Paul Custom For?

This electric guitar is primarily aimed at intermediate to advanced guitarists seeking a modern Les Paul that is more agile and versatile than traditional configurations. The Modern C neck promotes quick grip for rock and lead lines, while remaining comfortable for tight rhythm playing.

In terms of styles, it excels particularly in rock, hard rock, modern metal, powerful pop, alternative, and fusion. The split and phase options also open up more nuanced territories for clear textures, thinner tones, or more scooped sounds, useful in recording and content creation.

Sound: The Les Paul Balance Boosted by Versatility

The basic recipe remains a winning classic: a mahogany body for warmth and singing mids, complemented by a maple top that adds definition and controlled brightness. This balance delivers the recognizable Les Paul character: solid low mids, rich density on riffs, and a high end present enough to maintain clarity, especially when saturated.

The Ultra Modern weight relief reduces fatigue during long sessions without sacrificing essentials: the guitar retains a full response and convincing sustain, reinforced by the set neck (long tenon). Add to that the LockTone Tune-O-Matic and Stop Bar duo: the attack stays crisp, tuning stability is solid, and the instrument responds with authority when pushing the amp.

The Epiphone ProBucker Ignite pickups are designed for a modern register: energetic output, punch, and clarity that keep chords clear even with gain. The 2 volume / 2 tone electronics let you shape your balance pickup by pickup, and the 3-position toggle switch remains the instinctive control to switch from thick lead to sharper rhythm tones.

The push/pull functions add real creative value: coil splitting brings some settings closer to airier, snappier tones, while phase reversal offers scooped, textured timbres, very effective for differentiating doubled parts, coloring choruses, or creating a studio signature sound.

Finally, the ebony fingerboard and medium jumbo stainless steel frets contribute to a precise feel: sharp attack, smooth glide, more fluid bends, and excellent wear resistance for an instrument meant to be played often.

Recommended Compatible Accessories

To complete your setup safely: a set of electric guitar strings (standard format), a strap (Posi-Lok strap locks ensure more secure attachment), plectrums suited to your attack, as well as a tuner and a guitar stand for everyday use. The guitar comes with a premium gig bag for transport.
