Essential Information About the Epiphone 1960 Hummingbird Reissue Heritage Cherry Sunburst Guitar

  • "Inspired by Gibson Custom" Reissue of the first-year Hummingbird, featuring the iconic vintage look (engraved pickguard, multi-ply binding, "open book" headstock).

  • Premium all-solid tonewoods: thermally aged solid spruce top, solid mahogany back and sides, for a rich response and beautiful dynamics.

  • Traditional carved X-bracing in quarter-sawn solid spruce: strong projection, generous lows, and balanced performance in both strumming and picking.

  • Stage-ready thanks to the L.R. Baggs Element Bronze VTC system (volume and tone controls in the soundhole) and delivered with a "Red Line" inspired hard case.

A Square-Shoulder Born in 1960: The Gibson Icon Revisited by Epiphone

Introduced in 1960, the Gibson Hummingbird made history as the first square-shoulder acoustic model in the Gibson catalog. Becoming a visual and sonic landmark in modern music, it has accompanied artists from very different universes, from the Rolling Stones to Radiohead. This Epiphone 1960 Hummingbird Reissue follows in that tradition with a faithful and meticulous approach, in collaboration with Gibson Custom, to recapture the aesthetics and spirit of the very first vintages.

Who This Hummingbird Is For and Suitable Styles

Thanks to its great versatility, this dreadnought square-shoulder will suit both the intermediate guitarist seeking an expressive acoustic and the advanced musician wanting a guitar with character for stage and studio. It excels in folk, country, acoustic rock, pop, and vocal accompaniment, with a response nuanced enough for note-by-note playing and ample body for energetic strumming.

Sound

The combination of solid spruce (top) and solid mahogany (back and sides) delivers an immediately musical signature: a clear attack, singing mids, and a natural warmth ideal for supporting vocals. The thermal aging of the top (and neck) promotes an "open" guitar feel, with a quick response and pleasant dynamics under the fingers. The traditional carved X-bracing enhances projection and overall balance, maintaining body in the lows without losing chord clarity. Plugged in, the L.R. Baggs Element Bronze VTC captures the playing in a direct and usable way, with discreet controls (volume and tone) integrated into the soundhole for quick onstage adjustments.

Recommended Compatible Accessories
