Essential Information About the Epiphone J-200 EC Studio Parlor Guitar

  • "Parlor" format inspired by the legendary J-200, more compact and easy to transport, with a cutaway for comfortable access to the high frets.

  • Solid spruce top: crisp attack, good projection, and beautiful dynamics when played fingerstyle or with a pick.

  • Fishman electronics (Sonicore + Presys II) with built-in tuner, simple EQ, and phase switch to manage feedback on stage.

  • Refined finish: Grover Mini Rotomatic tuners (18:1 ratio) and "nickel-gold" hardware for a premium look.

A J-200 Reimagined in a Travel Size, in the Spirit of the "Coupe" Range

The J-200 EC Studio Parlor reinterprets the aesthetics and DNA of the J-200 in a smaller size, designed for mobility without sacrificing true sonic presence. This version modernizes the approach with an electro-acoustic setup ready for the stage, continuing the legacy of a previously known model called the "EJ-200 Coupe".

Who Is It For, and What Styles?

Thanks to its shorter scale length and compact format, this Epiphone is aimed at both serious beginners and intermediate guitarists looking for a comfortable electro-acoustic guitar for rehearsing, home recording, or traveling. It excels in pop, folk, vocal accompaniment, and strumming, while remaining pleasant for fingerstyle playing thanks to a smooth feel and a useful cutaway for solos.

Sound

The solid spruce top delivers clarity, precision, and a good dynamic range, with a sharp attack that stands out well in a mix. The ovangkol back and sides complement the sound with present lows, rich mids, and a defined high end, providing a warm and modern tone. When plugged in, the combination of the Fishman Sonicore (under-saddle pickup) and Presys II preamp favors a direct and usable sound: volume/bass/treble controls, phase switch to reduce unwanted resonance, and a built-in tuner for immediate stage practicality.

Recommended Compatible Accessories

To protect the instrument during transport, the optional hard case EJ-200SCE Coupe 940-MJCS is the manufacturer's recommended solution. For maintenance, plan to have a 9V battery to power the preamp, as well as a set of strings with the original gauge 12-53 (Phosphor Bronze) to maintain the intended feel and tonal balance.
