The Prophecy Lineage: Les Paul DNA with a Modern Twist
Reimagined, the Epiphone Prophecy series translates the Les Paul icon into a decidedly contemporary interpretation. It features the mahogany/maple combination dear to Gibson's history, enhanced with an "Ultra-Modern" lightweight design and cutting-edge electronics. Positioned as a high-performance, stage-ready Les Paul, the Prophecy targets guitarists who want to push tradition without abandoning it.
For Whom and Which Styles?
Designed for intermediate to expert players, it excels in metal, hard rock, and prog thanks to its fast playability and active voicings. Its PAF voice and single-coil split also open up classic rock, pop, funk, and blues territories, making it an excellent all-in-one guitar for both studio and touring.
Sound
The Fishman Fluence pickup duo signed Prophecy delivers three complementary voices: a vintage humbucker inspired by PAFs for warmth and dynamics, a modern voicing that's more compressed and punchy for high gain, and a bright single-coil for crisp cleans. Volume push/pulls (coil-split) and tone push/pulls (vintage/modern voice) offer an instant palette, all controlled by a 3-position selector. The mahogany body with a hard maple cap enhances sustain and definition, while the ebony fingerboard and jumbo frets favor attack and precise bends.
Recommended Compatible Accessories
To get the most out of its short scale, opt for nickel strings 10-46 (standard on Les Pauls) or 09-46 if you prefer more flexibility. A Les Paul-style hard case will protect the instrument beyond the included premium gig bag. Add a wide strap (PosiLok strap buttons accept standard straps) and a precise tuner for quick tuning changes on stage.

Questions frequently asked
Do the Fishman Fluence pickups on this Les Paul allow playing metal and clean sounds?
The two Epiphone Prophecy Fishman Fluence pickups offer a modern humbucker voicing for high-gain distortion, a warmer PAF-style voicing, and a single-coil mode optimized for bright cleans. The push/pull controls provide access to coil-split and vintage or modern voices.
What is the neck of the Epiphone Les Paul Prophecy Aged Jet Black Metallic like?
The neck features an Asymmetrical SlimTaper profile, with a 628 mm scale length and a 43 mm nut width. The ebony fingerboard has 24 jumbo frets, while the nut is a black Graph Tech NuBone XL.
Is the guitar heavy despite its mahogany body?
The mahogany body benefits from Ultra-Modern weight relief, designed to reduce the weight of the Les Paul format. A flamed maple top completes this construction.
What type of bridge and tuners does this model have?
Tuning is handled by a fixed Epiphone LockTone Tune-O-Matic bridge and LockTone Stop Bar tailpiece. Grover Locking Rotomatic tuners are installed.
Which strings should be chosen for this Les Paul Prophecy?
Nickel strings in 10-46 gauge correspond to the standard recommended tension for its 24.72-inch scale length. A 09-46 gauge can be chosen for greater playability.
