Essential Information About the Epiphone 1959 Les Paul Standard Reissue "Southern Fade" Guitar

  • "59" Look and Feel: mahogany body + carved maple top with AAA flamed maple veneer, Vintage Gloss finish and nickel hardware for a decidedly vintage aesthetic.

  • Strong Sustain and Stability: one-piece mahogany neck glued with a long neck tenon, designed to maximize vibration transfer.

  • High-End Electronics: 2 Gibson Custombucker pickups (Alnico 3), meticulous wiring, CTS potentiometers, oiled paper capacitors, Switchcraft selector and jack.

  • Stage Ready: comes with a hard case (brown exterior, pink interior, Inspired by Gibson Custom patterns).

An "Inspired by Gibson Custom" Reissue: The 1959 Spirit Made Accessible

The 1959 Les Paul Standard is one of the most legendary models in electric guitar history, sought after for its balance of power, warmth, and dynamics. This Epiphone 1959 Les Paul Standard Reissue, developed in partnership with Gibson Custom, aims to capture the look and feel of a "59" without the exclusivity (or budget) of a collector's piece. It notably features a neck with a 1959 Rounded Medium C profile, more substantial than a SlimTaper, and craftsmanship faithful to the era's codes, including the long tenon and carved maple top.

For Which Guitarist? From Vintage Blues to Hard Rock

This Les Paul is aimed at intermediate to advanced guitarists seeking a true "Standard 1959" experience: a well-shaped neck, very dynamic pick response, and rich harmonic content. It excels in blues, classic rock, hard rock, and fusion styles, with a natural ability to transition from a thick clean tone to a dense drive simply by adjusting the volume. Thanks to the two volume and two tone controls, you can also set it up in a "vintage set" style: a warm, singing neck pickup, a sharper bridge pickup, and very musical blends in the middle position.

Sound: The Mahogany/Maple Duo Serving the Alnico 3 Custombuckers

The classic Les Paul formula is respected here: the mahogany body provides a warm foundation, rich low-mids, and a sense of "mass" in the note, while the maple top adds attack, definition, and extra presence. The glued neck with long tenon enhances the instrument's cohesion and promotes generous sustain, especially appreciated on bends and sustained notes.

Regarding pickups, the Gibson Custombuckers equipped with Alnico 3 magnets aim for a vintage tone: smooth yet clear highs, expressive mids, and moderate compression that preserves playing nuances. The associated wiring (CTS potentiometers, oiled paper Bumblebee capacitors, Switchcraft selector and jack) helps maintain a consistent and musical response when adjusting controls: volume roll-off without losing character, usable tone control to smooth a solo or tame a bright amp, and a very "creamy" middle position for rhythm playing.

Recommended Compatible Accessories

This guitar ships with .010 .013 .017 .026 .036 .046 strings: to stay as close as possible to the original feel and setup balance, a 10-46 string set is the most coherent choice when replacing strings. Since the hard case is included, no additional purchase is necessary for transport and protection.
