Essential Information About the Epiphone 1960 Les Paul Standard Reissue Iced Tea Burst Guitar
- 1960 Reissue developed in partnership with Gibson Custom: vintage aesthetics and "Custom Shop" feel at a more accessible price.
- 60 SlimTaper Neck: quick and comfortable grip, ideal if you love the Les Paul spirit but prefer a slimmer profile.
- Gibson USA Custombucker Pickups (Alnico 3) + meticulous wiring: great dynamics, PAF tone, and excellent clarity when rolling back the volume knob.
- Vintage Gloss Finish and nickel hardware: authentic, elegant look without an overly reliced appearance.
A 1960 Reissue at the Crossroads of Vintage and Modern
Inspired by the 1960 Les Paul Standard models, this Epiphone emphasizes the details that made the model legendary: mahogany body, Gibson-style "openbook" headstock with aged logo and "LesPaul Model" marking, as well as craftsmanship designed for stability. It stands out with a more "playable" daily approach thanks to the SlimTaper neck profile, while retaining the sonic and visual DNA of the great Les Pauls from the golden era.
Who Is It For, and What Styles?
This electric guitar is aimed at intermediate to advanced guitarists seeking a Les Paul with vintage character but featuring a slimmer, faster neck. It excels in rock, blues, hard rock, classic rock, and also adapts very well to pop and cleaner tones when using volume and tone controls. Both in the studio and on stage, it offers an excellent balance of punch, sustain, and definition.
Sound
The mahogany base provides rich mids, a sense of density, and generous sustain, while the maple top (with AAA flamed maple veneer) adds attack and clarity, especially on chords and riffs. The two Gibson Custombucker pickups deliver a very expressive vintage tone: open cleans, snappy crunch, and singing overdrive, with a very musical response to touch. Hand wiring, CTS potentiometers, BlackBeauty Paper-in-Oil capacitors, and the Switchcraft selector enhance the precision of the controls, with usable tones across the entire sweep.
