Essential Information About the Epiphone Newport Bass

  • An original Epiphone design introduced in 1961, revamped with modern improvements for stage and studio use.

  • Immediate comfort thanks to the short 30.5" / 774.7 mm scale length and Medium C neck profile, easy to handle.

  • Full access to the upper frets: symmetrical double cutaway body to reach every fret effortlessly.

  • Wide tonal palette: Bass Sidewinder neck pickup (round and deep) + TB PRO bridge pickup (brighter), with a Blend control for precise mixing.

A Tribute to Rare Vintage, Designed for Today's Bassists

Fully original model that debuted in 1961, the modern Newport Bass captures the spirit of a rare vintage instrument while adapting to current demands: refined ergonomics, more versatile electronics, and simple yet effective controls. The result: a bass with a distinctive look and true personality, fitting equally well in a modern setup or a more retro aesthetic.

Who It's For, and Which Styles the Newport Bass Excels In

With its short scale and Medium C neck profile, the Newport Bass is especially suited for beginner to intermediate bassists seeking easy playability, but it will also appeal to advanced players looking for a different bass with a strong character. The rich tones of the neck pickup perfectly serve soul, vintage rock, indie, and reggae, while the bridge pickup provides the attack and definition useful in pop, garage, punk, or pick playing.

Tone

The mahogany body promotes a warm response, with present low-mids and natural sustain. The Bass Sidewinder neck pickup delivers a deep, dense foundation, ideal for round and enveloping lines. In the bridge position, the TB PRO adds clarity and attack to stand out better in the mix. The deliberately straightforward electronics combine master volume, master tone, and a Blend control to continuously balance the two pickups and quickly switch from a thick vintage sound to a sharper signature.
