Epiphone SG Bass Cherry IBG

An SG bass that brings the spirit of rock’s golden years back to life

This Epiphone SG Bass is firmly rooted in the tradition of EB-style basses that made their mark in the 1960s. It features that unmistakable visual identity, its instantly recognizable compact format and the tonal character that has accompanied countless rock bands both on stage and in the studio.
Part of the Inspired by Gibson range, this model embraces the historic features that made the SG Bass so successful while incorporating elements appreciated by today’s musicians, such as a more consistent playing feel, a long 34" scale length and ergonomics designed for regular use. The Ebony version further enhances its understated, elegant and decidedly stage-ready appearance.

Which bassists and musical styles is it suited to?

This 4-string SG-style electric bass is particularly well suited to musicians looking for an instrument with plenty of personality, easy to play and able to find its place in a mix. Its Medium C neck is accessible to a wide range of players, from careful beginners to intermediate or experienced musicians looking for an expressive bass that stands apart from more traditional designs.
Its natural territory covers rock, classic rock, garage, pop, indie, blues rock and a wide range of live settings. Thanks to its dual volume and tone controls, as well as its 3-position rotary selector, it can also deliver convincing results in smoother or more aggressive styles, depending on your picking attack and pickup settings.

A full, punchy and musical sound, powered by mahogany and humbuckers

The mahogany body plays a major role in this SG Bass’s sonic character. This wood is prized for its warmth, low-mid depth and ability to produce a full sound with rich harmonic density. Combined with a set mahogany neck, it promotes a fluid response, sustain and a highly satisfying sense of continuity under the fingers.
The Sidewinder Bass Pickup neck pickup delivers generous, powerful and enveloping lows, making it ideal for laying down a solid bass line with plenty of presence. At the bridge, the Bass Mini Humbucker provides greater attack, precision and bite, helping picked playing and more articulate lines stand out. Together, they offer a versatile tonal palette, always defined by the muscular vintage character typical of SG basses.
The electronics further enhance this flexibility with 2 volume controls, 2 tone controls and a 3-position rotary selector. This control layout allows you to fine-tune the balance between warmth, clarity and impact. The adjustable 3-point bridge also helps you set the action and intonation while maintaining efficient vibration transfer for a firm, singing response.
