Essential Information About the Epiphone Masterbilt Texan Guitar

  • Texan Format inspired by the historic 1960s models, combined with the Masterbilt universe for an acoustic guitar with a vintage look.

  • All-solid Woodwork: solid Sitka spruce top, solid mahogany back and sides for a rich response and great projection.

  • Stage Ready thanks to the Fishman Sonicore pickup and Fishman Sonitone preamp (controls located in the soundhole).

  • Premium Details: 1960s SlimTaper neck profile, mother-of-pearl "parallelogram" inlays, and an "aged" aesthetic.

A "British Invasion" Texan That Joins the Masterbilt Lineage

The Masterbilt Texan follows the tradition of the 1960s Texans, made iconic by artists like Paul McCartney and Peter Frampton. With this Masterbilt version, Epiphone captures the spirit of these characterful acoustics while adding a modern design focused on reliability, playing comfort, and discreet amplification. It is available in Antique Natural Aged and Faded Cherry Aged finishes, featuring a vintage-style rectangular blue soundhole label.

For Which Guitarists and Styles?

Ideal for intermediate to advanced guitarists seeking an expressive electro-acoustic, the Masterbilt Texan excels in both pick accompaniment and fingerpicking. Its temperament makes it particularly comfortable in folk, pop, acoustic rock, and songwriting contexts, whether in the home studio or live, thanks to the easy-to-adjust Fishman system (volume and tone controls within reach).

Sound

The solid Sitka spruce top delivers clarity, attack, and wide dynamics, while the solid mahogany back and sides enhance the midrange, warmth, and the "wood" feel in the tone. The Texan body shape, combined with the reversed belly Advanced Jumbo bridge, promotes generous projection and natural sustain. For comfort and stability, the Graph Tech NuBone nut contributes to tuning consistency, while the bone saddle aids precision and definition. When plugged in, the Fishman Sonicore + Sonitone combo aims for a balanced and usable sound reinforcement, with discreet controls integrated into the soundhole.

Recommended Compatible Accessories

To stay within original specifications, you can choose a set of Phosphor Bronze acoustic strings with gauges .012-.053. For transport, the manufacturer recommends the AJ/Dreadnought 940-EDREAD hard case and the EpiLite Dread/AJ 940-EDREADHG case. A 9-volt battery is required to power the Fishman system (the description specifies it is not included, while the technical sheet mentions a battery included).
