Designed in close collaboration with James Hetfield, the Snakebyte follows the line of ESP signatures built to withstand heavy tunings, pick-driven rhythms, and extreme dynamics. Here, the formula is clear: a mahogany base (body and set neck) for sustain, a Macassar ebony fingerboard for attack, and active electronics to stay clear and punchy in a dense mix.

Who Is It For, and Which Styles?

This 6-string electric guitar mainly targets intermediate to expert guitarists seeking a fast playing feel and immediate response. It excels in modern metal, thrash, hard rock, and all genres where firm lows, present mids, and surgical precision in alternate picking are expected. Its short scale length facilitates bends and provides a very appreciated "compact" feel on heavy rhythms.

Sound

The mahogany combination (body + set neck) emphasizes a dense low-midrange and generous sustain, ideal for heavy riffs and leads that hold. The Macassar ebony fingerboard adds definition and a sharper attack, helping maintain clarity on saturated chords. The two EMG James Hetfield pickups (neck and bridge), paired with active electronics, deliver controlled compression, high output level, and very consistent response: perfect for tight rhythms, easy harmonics, and a sound that remains stable under high gain. The 2 volume controls also allow fine-tuning of the balance between neck and bridge pickups via the 3-position selector switch.

Recommended Compatible Accessories

To stay as close as possible to the factory setup, opt for electric strings in 10-46 gauge (the same as the original strings). A spare set of strings and a microfiber cloth for maintaining the satin finish are also safe choices.
