The Essentials to Know About the ESP KH-2 Vintage Black Guitar

  • Authentic "road worn" look inspired by Kirk Hammett's KH-2: vintage black finish with chips and iconic stickers for an instantly recognizable style.

  • Neck-through construction and extra-thin U-shaped neck profile: an ideal foundation for fast, precise, and comfortable playing across the entire neck.

  • Active EMG 60 (neck) + EMG 81 (bridge) pickups: sharp attack, high output level, and outstanding definition for metal.

  • Floyd Rose Original + Gotoh tuners: solid tuning stability for dive bombs, extreme vibratos, and aggressive playing.

A Cult Signature, Directly Inherited from the History of Modern Metal

The KH-2 Vintage Black is a special adaptation of Kirk Hammett's signature model, designed to recreate the "lived-in" aesthetic of his touring guitar: faded paint, chips, signs of wear, and iconic stickers. This approach goes beyond visuals: the instrument retains a high-end design and components tailored for the stage, in the spirit of the guitars that have marked the history of rock and metal.

For Whom and Which Styles?

This 6-string electric guitar is primarily aimed at intermediate to expert guitarists seeking a high-performance instrument for metal, thrash, hard rock, and all music requiring incisive playing and stable tuning. Its fast neck and 24 extra-jumbo frets favor shredding, high-velocity solos, strong bends, and back-and-forth licks, while the Floyd Rose delivers for the most extreme vibrato effects.

The Sound

The combination of a alder body and maple top provides an effective balance: a clear and punchy foundation with a sharp attack and good presence in the mix. On the amplification side, the active EMG pickups give the KH-2 Vintage a decidedly modern personality: the EMG 81 at the bridge delivers cutting, tight, and highly defined rhythms, ideal for palm mutes and high gain, while the EMG 60 at the neck offers a rounder and precise register, perfect for singing leads and fast phrases that need to remain clear. The active electronics enhance consistency and output level for immediate response both in the studio and on stage.
