An Eclipse USA: ESP's single-cut DNA at Custom Shop level
The Eclipse series embodies ESP's vision of the single-cut format: an instrument designed for the stage, with modern comfort and refined aesthetics. This ESP USA version, made at the Custom Shop in California, sits in the very high-end segment: wood selection, glossy "see thru" finish, and professional components to meet the demands of guitarists who want an uncompromising Eclipse.
Who is it for, and in which styles?
With its active electronics and Fishman Fluence Modern pickups, this Eclipse is especially suited for intermediate to expert guitarists seeking a reliable guitar in standard or lower tunings, capable of handling dense distortion. It excels in metal, hard rock, modern rock, and precise lead playing, while remaining clean and articulate for tight rhythm parts.
The sound
The combination of mahogany body and quilted maple top delivers a very effective balance: full lows, present mids, and a more defined attack thanks to the maple. The set mahogany neck promotes long sustain and a consistent feel across the entire neck, while the ebony fingerboard enhances precision and response, ideal for palm-muting and fast runs. Regarding pickups, the Fishman Fluence Modern ceramic humbucker at the bridge offers a tight and cutting response, perfect for heavy riffs and complex chords, whereas the Modern Humbucker alnico at the neck provides rounder, singing leads. The 2 volume + 1 tone controls and the 3-position selector switch allow quick transitions from massive rhythm tones to more expressive solos.
Recommended compatible accessories
The guitar comes equipped with 10-46 strings; you can stick with this gauge to maintain the original balance or choose another set of electric guitar strings with the same gauge if you simply want to replace the strings (10-46).
