What EChannel Is For

EChannel is a channel strip plug-in designed to process a track or bus coherently, with minimal CPU load. It serves both to clean a signal (noise reduction, bleed control, fret noise attenuation) and to stabilize dynamics (compression, de-essing) as well as to shape the tone (5-band EQ). Its modular approach makes it particularly suitable for dense sessions, whether in a home studio or more advanced production, when you want fast, clear, and easily recallable processing.

Main Features

Modular Architecture and FlexiPath Routing

The strength of EChannel lies in its modular structure: Gate, EQ, and compressor can be routed in the most logical order for your mix. For example, you can start with a Gate to control bleed, then EQ before compressing, or conversely compress first to stabilize the signal before a more surgical EQ. This flexibility facilitates adjustments and adapts to each source without multiplying plug-ins.

Gate: Cleaning and Bleed Control

The Gate module cuts or attenuates signals below a defined threshold, helping to keep tracks clean and clear. It is very effective on multi-miked drum kits (reducing microphone bleed), but also on guitar takes where you want to limit unwanted noises and fret noise between phrases.

Compressor: Dynamics, Soft Saturation, and De-essing

EChannel's compressor allows precise dynamic shaping, whether to thicken a vocal, stabilize a bass, or add more "glue" to a bus. Depending on the context, you can add soft saturation to thicken the signal and bring a more organic feel. A de-esser mode is also available to control sibilance and harsh areas, particularly useful on vocals, certain overheads, or bright guitars.

Side Chain: Creating Space in the Mix

Thanks to the side chain, you can trigger the compressor's gain reduction from another source to manage masking. This is ideal for creating space between a bass and a kick, or to let a pad breathe under a lead vocal, while maintaining a clearer and more stable mix.

5-Band Parametric EQ: Fine Sculpting Across the Spectrum

The 5-band parametric EQ offers precise control over the entire audio spectrum, with visualization that helps quickly target resonances, enhance presence, or soften harsh areas. It is a versatile tool, equally comfortable for correction (cleaning, resonance reduction) and enhancement (attack, air, body), for a musical and controlled result.

Output Transformer: Analog-Style Color and Warmth

EChannel includes an output transformer emulation to add a subtle but noticeable character, especially on bass-rich signals. Used sparingly, it adds density and a more "hardware" feel. Pushed further, it can move towards more pronounced saturation, useful for thickening a bass, rounding a drum kit, or adding bite to certain buses.
