What Eventide Spring Is For

Eventide Spring is a spring reverb plugin designed to recreate the lively, organic, and slightly metallic character of classic spring reverbs, while offering modern flexibility suited for studio production. It adds vintage depth, a typical "splashy" attack, and a sense of movement that enhances both a clean guitar and an analog pad, snare, clap, or vocal. Whether you're seeking an authentic retro vibe or a creative reverb that breaks the mold, Spring integrates naturally into a mix and is controlled like a true effects instrument.

Main Features

Two spring tanks and morphing the number of springs

Spring includes two tank sizes ("spring tanks") to modify the overall response and resonance feel. You can also morph between one and three springs, which changes the density, diffusion, and character of the "bounce": perfect for going from a subtle vintage amp-style effect to a thicker, more textured, or even deliberately exaggerated reverb.

Advanced tone controls: Low/High damping and metallic resonance

To precisely shape your tone, Spring offers independent damping controls for the Low and High ends. This allows you to clean up an overly boomy reverb in the low spectrum or, conversely, emphasize brightness and the typical spring "zing." By adjusting the Resonance linked to the High Damping, you add more metallic timbre and "ring," ideal for achieving a pronounced surf character or making a track stand out in a dense arrangement.

Amplifier-style tremolo: pre/post reverb and tempo synchronization

The built-in tremolo, inspired by tube amps, can be placed before the reverb (for a more pronounced, "instrument-like" movement) or after (to animate the reverb tail more atmospherically). Adjust the intensity via depth, and set the speed in Hz or musical values thanks to tempo sync in your DAW.

Modulation and chorus-type effects

By adjusting the Modulation Level, Spring can create pitch and movement variations reminiscent of a light chorus, perfect for widening a guitar, adding life to a synth, or making an atmosphere more cinematic without overloading the original signal.

Modern workflow: Ribbon, Hotswitch, artist presets, and decay sync

Spring is designed for performance and automation. The Ribbon allows you to evolve multiple parameters simultaneously to morph between two settings smoothly, ideal for transitions, builds, or spot effects in mixing. The programmable Hotswitch offers instant toggling to an alternative sound, handy for accents (breaks, fills, vocal phrase endings). Finally, you have artist presets (Matt Lange, Nick Hook, Nu-Trix) and the ability to sync the reverb decay to the project tempo for a clean and musical result.
