A Mustang Bass at the Crossroads of Vintage and Modern Demands
The Mustang Bass is one of Fender's most endearing formats: a compact silhouette, short scale, and a unique sonic personality. This American Professional Classic Mustang Bass embraces the "golden age" aesthetic (vintage details, "lollipop" tuners) while incorporating modern playability and a design suited for both studio and stage.
For Which Bassist and Styles?
This bass is aimed at intermediate to professional musicians seeking a serious, stable, and expressive short scale. It excels in rock, indie, pop, soul, funk, and garage: with a pick, it cuts easily through the mix, and fingerstyle delivers solid lows with great definition. Its compact ergonomics also make it very comfortable for long sessions or for those looking for a softer string tension.
The Sound
The alder body provides the quintessential Fender balance: firm lows, present mids, and clear highs, with a consistent response adaptable to many styles. The 30" / 762 mm scale length promotes a round attack and a more "elastic" feel, while retaining punch thanks to the Coastline pickup. The SS configuration with a split-coil in the center delivers depth and precision, and the Greasebucket tone circuit softens the highs without artificially thickening the low end: handy for switching from a snappy sound to a more vintage grain in one gesture, without losing clarity.
Recommended Compatible Accessories
This bass comes with a Deluxe gig bag. To maintain the original string gauge and feel, you can use Fender 5250XL short scale strings (.040-.095), ref. 0735250402.
