The essentials to know about the Fender Custom Shop "56 Strat" Relic Ultra Marine Blue guitar

  • Assumed vintage spirit: based on the "56 Strat", chrome/nickel hardware, '54-'58 style vibrato and electronics, all with a very credible Relic patina.
  • Immediate playing comfort: quarter-sawn maple neck, 10/56 " V" profile, 21 frets and 7.25" / 184 mm radius to recapture the feel of vintage Strats.
  • 50's tonal character: trio of "50's Strat" pickups (neck/middle/bridge) for dynamic, snappy, and very expressive clear tones.
  • Ultra distinctive look: Ultra Marine Blue lacquer finish with matching painted headcap and reverse headstock for an extraordinary stage presence.

A "56 Strat": the golden age of the Stratocaster revisited Custom Shop style

The 1956 vintage is one of the emblematic years of the Stratocaster: an already iconic design, conceived for the stage, with ergonomics and clarity that defined modern electric playing. This "56 Strat" embraces these codes (vintage hardware, '54-'58 style controls, old-school vibrato), while adding a very distinctive personality: relic for the lived-in feel, Ultra Marine Blue for the visual signature, and a reverse headstock that changes both the feel and the aesthetics.

For which guitarist and styles?

This Strat is primarily aimed at intermediate to advanced guitarists who want a true "old school" response under their fingers: clear attack, pick nuances, and an instrument that reacts immediately to volume and playing intensity. It excels in blues, vintage rock, surf, country, funk, and pop; and remains very convincing whenever a lively clean, snappy crunch, or expressive lead tones without excessive compression are sought.

50's sound: dynamic, clarity, and "Strat" grain

The 2-piece alder body provides a typical balance: present mids, clear lows, and highs that retain brightness without becoming harsh. Combined with a lacquer finish (nitro type) and vintage vibrato, it offers quick resonance with an "acoustic" feel to the touch that favors natural sustain.

On the electronics side, the vintage '54-'58 Strat set with 5-position CRL selector and 250K potentiometers is designed for versatility: snappy and scooped intermediate positions, round and singing neck pickup, sharper bridge pickup for rhythms that cut through the mix. The " 50's Strat" pickups (neck/middle/bridge) emphasize dynamics and definition: you can go from a crystalline sound to a textured crunch simply with your right hand and the volume knob.

Recommended compatible accessories

The guitar is strung with 10-46 gauge strings (010-013-017-026-036-046): you can keep this gauge to maintain the vintage vibrato balance and the original feel. A 10-46 electric string set is therefore a safe choice, as is a quality 6.35 mm jack cable to preserve the clarity and dynamics typical of the 50's.
