Texas Special: The Custom Shop Spirit Serving a More Powerful Tele
These Fender Custom Shop Texas Special pickups were designed for guitarists who love the Telecaster "twang" but want more density and output level. The neck pickup, with its nickel/silver cover, maintains a clear and warm sound, while the bridge pickup combines attack, bite, and projection for snappy riffs and solos that cut through the mix.
For Which Styles and Guitarists?
Perfect if you play a Telecaster and are looking for a more aggressive set than vintage pickups: blues, rock, modern country, roots, indie, or funk with a well-defined attack. If you alternate between fingerstyle and pick playing, or often switch from clean to crunch tones, the response and dynamics of the Alnico 5 will offer excellent control.
Design Details: Balance, Precision, and Presence
The set pairs a neck pickup with a round and clear output, and a bridge pickup optimized for Tele bite. The staggered pole pieces help balance output levels across the strings. On the bridge side, the copper-plated steel baseplate enhances projection and definition, delivering a sharper sound and tighter low end, especially appreciated in both rhythm and lead playing.

First impression, the box arrived torn and the microphones are full of dust... for a product at 150 euros I expected better... the assembly took me an hour and I bought this set to upgrade a telecaster.
Nothing to say the sound is good, even if I find it a bit too sparkling, it's high and very high. Too bad because I like the neck pickup and it works well with a low gain pedal, but really too high for my taste. The intermediate position is nice but it telecaster too much and it is too typical I think, while at the micro neck, the same observation is very acute.
It lacks warmth and velvety texture and it's too country for my taste. Even if again for the price the sound quality is there but it does not correspond to what I am looking for, not versatile enough I find. So I'm going to send them back and test bare knuckles that are at about the same price.Automatically translated
