A Professional Jazz Bass, Heir to Over 60 Years of Evolution
The Fender American Professional II Jazz Bass is a direct descendant of the Jazz Basses that have shaped bassists' sounds for decades. Within the American Professional II range, it retains the fundamentals that have made the model renowned (ergonomics, versatility, dynamic response) while adding improvements aimed at the "professional musician": smoother playability, easier access to higher frets, and electronics designed for precision.
For Which Bassists and Styles
This bass is primarily aimed at intermediate to expert bassists seeking a reliable, expressive instrument that feels immediately familiar both in the studio and on stage. Its Jazz Bass character makes it particularly comfortable in funk, pop, rock, jazz, soul, and fusion: from articulate fingerstyle playing to more aggressive attacks, it follows nuances and remains clear in the mix.
The Sound
With its alder body, the American Pro II Jazz Bass offers a very musical balance: firm lows, present mids, and a clear attack, ideal for standing out in a band. The V-Mod II single-coil pickups provide the typical snap and definition of the Jazz Bass, while gaining precision in dynamics and note-to-note articulation. The Volume (neck pickup), Volume (bridge pickup), and master tone controls allow you to switch from a round, full sound to a sharper, more biting tone by blending the two pickups. The 4-saddle HiMass Vintage bridge enhances tuning stability and sustain, with the option to choose between string-through-body or top-load stringing depending on the desired feel.
