A Jazz Bass Designed for Today's Demands
Directly inheriting over sixty years of Jazz Bass evolution, the American Professional II stands as a "pro-level" reference in the Fender USA lineup. It retains the familiar feel and sonic DNA that made the model successful, while bringing concrete improvements in neck ergonomics, pickup precision, and daily instrument stability.
For Which Bassist and Styles?
This 4-string electric bass is aimed at intermediate to professional bassists who want a Jazz Bass that is immediately effective, reliable on tour, and versatile in recording. It excels in funk (attack and articulation), rock (presence and sustain), pop (clean foundation), jazz (definition and nuances), and any context where a clear low end is sought without losing the Fender character.
The Sound
The alder body provides a natural balance between rounded lows, present mids, and controlled highs, helping the bass to "sit" easily in a mix. The rosewood fingerboard enhances the smoothness of the attack and delivers a softer upper midrange, ideal for precise lines without harshness. On the electronics side, the SS configuration with two V-Mod II Single-Coil Jazz Bass pickups offers the typical clarity and punch with increased definition: neck pickup for warmth, bridge pickup for bite, or both for the classic Jazz Bass balance. The HiMass Vintage bridge contributes to stability and sustain, with the choice between String-Through-Body or Top-Load mounting to adjust the feel under the fingers.
