American Ultra II: Fender's Modern Evolution of the Jazz Bass
The American Ultra II series embodies a "modern high-end" approach to the Jazz Bass: optimized ergonomics, meticulous finishes, and electronics designed for both studio and stage. This Ultraburst version with ebony fingerboard emphasizes precision and attack while retaining Fender's DNA.
Who Is It For, and In Which Styles?
This bass is aimed at intermediate to expert bassists who want a Jazz Bass capable of everything: funk grooves, modern pop, rock, gospel, R&B, and recording sessions where silent operation is a real advantage. The Modern "D" profile and sculpted heel promote fast, precise, and comfortable playing, even in the upper positions.
The Sound
The selected alder body offers a classic balance: firm lows, present mids, and clear highs, ideal for cutting through a mix. The pair of Noiseless pickups retains the "Jazz Bass" character (definition, dynamics, articulation) while reducing unwanted noise. The Ultra II active preamp expands the palette: fine sculpting of lows/highs, midrange control, and a midrange frequency selector (325 Hz or 750 Hz) to choose between a rounder low-mid or a more biting mid. The S-1 switch allows toggling between active and passive modes, convenient for changing texture with a single gesture.
Recommended Compatible Accessories
This bass comes with a Deluxe Molded Case. The original strings are Fender 7250M (nickel plated steel, gauge .045-.105, long scale), a reliable reference to maintain the feel and tonal balance intended by Fender. For maintenance and adjustments, the 1/8 truss rod wrench is the recommended size.
