An Early 60s Jazz Bass at the Peak of the Vintera III Spirit

In the Vintera III series, this Jazz Bass emphasizes the very first codes of the 1960s up to 1962: narrow nut width of 1.5" / 38.1 mm, rosewood "slab" fingerboard, and the famous control plate with concentric controls. It positions itself as the most "early 60s" option in the range, designed to recapture the feel, ergonomics, and look that defined the legendary recordings of the decade.

For Which Bassist and Styles?

This Fender Vintera III Early '60s Jazz Bass is aimed at intermediate to advanced bassists who want a vintage-inspired, responsive, and expressive bass without sacrificing the versatility of a Jazz Bass. It excels in jazz, soul, funk, rock, and indie: from well-articulated fingerstyle playing to more aggressive attacks, it maintains clear definition in the studio and immediate presence on stage.

The Sound

The alder + maple combination provides a natural balance, with singing mids and a clear attack, while the rosewood fingerboard rounds off the upper spectrum for a woodier tone and very musical articulation. The two Early '60s style single-coil pickups deliver the classic Jazz Bass "growl": precise and biting at the bridge, rounder and more enveloping at the neck. The stacked controls (volume and tone per pickup) allow very fine adjustments without a selector switch, perfect for sculpting the mix. The 34" / 864 mm scale length ensures stable tension and firm lows, and the threaded saddle bridge enhances attack and clarity.

Recommended Compatible Accessories

The Deluxe gig bag is included. For maintenance and stage use, you can opt for a set of long scale bass strings .045-.105 (same gauge as original), a 6.35 mm jack cable, a chromatic tuner, and a stable bass stand.
