A Jazz Bass Designed for Today's Demands
With the American Professional II, Fender evolves one of its most iconic designs, drawing on over sixty years of inspiration. The goal is clear: to retain the familiar feel of a Jazz Bass while making concrete improvements for today's bassists, especially in playing comfort and sonic precision.
Who It's For and Suitable Styles
This Jazz Bass is primarily aimed at intermediate to professional musicians seeking a reliable, expressive bass that performs well in all contexts. Its SS configuration and simple controls make it formidable in rock, pop, funk, blues, jazz, or urban music: a solid foundation to sculpt your sound through playing, pickup volumes, and tone.
The Sound
The alder body provides a very musical balance: full lows, present mids, and clear highs, perfect for capturing the typical Jazz Bass attack without excessive harshness. The two V-Mod II Single-Coil pickups enhance this identity with added definition: neck pickup for a round, deep sound; bridge pickup for bite and "growl"; and both together for a rich, articulate snap. The HiMass Vintage bridge, with String-Through-Body or Top-Load options, contributes to good note sustain, a firm attack, and a dynamic response feel under the fingers.
