A faithful tribute to the 60s Jazz Bass, made in Japan
Part of the "Traditional 60s" series, this Made in Japan Jazz Bass follows the design codes of the pre-CBS era models: offset silhouette, "dot" inlays, vintage hardware. Fender Japan delivers here a precise and reliable interpretation, designed to offer the charm of the 60s with contemporary luthiery and finishes.
For whom and for which styles?
Ideal for intermediate to expert players, it excels in jazz, funk, soul, R&B, rock, and pop. Its passive V/V/T wiring allows for a sound range from warm and woody (neck pickup) to a more punchy and articulate tone (bridge pickup), perfect for fingerstyle playing to light slap.
The sound
The two Vintage-Style single-coils deliver the Jazz Bass DNA: precise attack, singing mids, and clear highs. The volume blend enables subtle nuances, from the typical "scooped" sound to more present textures. The basswood body provides a balanced low end and smooth mids, while the rosewood fingerboard softens the highs for a warm tone. The 34" / 864 mm scale length ensures tension, definition, and sustain, supported by a 4-saddle vintage-style bridge.
Recommended compatible accessories
To preserve the original feel and balance: sets of long scale 34" bass strings in .045-.105 (nickel or steel), a hard case in Jazz Bass format for secure transport despite the included gig bag, a 5-8 cm wide strap, and a universal clip-on tuner.
