The Player II Jazz Bass, Fender DNA Revisited in 5 Strings
A direct heir to the Fender icon, this Player II Modified Active Jazz Bass V made in Mexico modernizes the formula with Noiseless pickups, on-the-fly active/passive switching, and optimized hardware. It retains the Jazz Bass ergonomics and its timeless "3-Color Sunburst" aesthetic while offering an expanded sonic palette for stage and studio.
For Whom and Which Styles?
Ideal for intermediate to advanced bassists seeking a reliable and adaptable instrument. The low B string extends the range for funk, jazz, rock, pop, gospel, or R&B. The passive mode delivers a traditional tone, while the active mode provides the power and precision needed for modern contexts.
Sound
The two Noiseless Jazz Bass V single-coils deliver the characteristic articulation and "growl" without hiss. The 3-band preamp (treble, mid, bass) finely sculpts the spectrum; the balance potentiometer allows blending bridge/middle pickups, and the active/passive switch instantly powers the electronics on or off. The alder body provides balance and projection, the maple neck/rosewood fingerboard favors attack and warmth, while the HiMass bridge enhances sustain and definition.
Recommended Compatible Accessories
Plan for a spare set of Fender 7250-5M Nickel Plated Steel (.045-.125) strings to maintain the original feel, a quality 9V battery for the preamp, a wide, non-slip strap for comfort when playing standing, and a good-quality 6.35 mm instrument jack cable. Deluxe gig bag included for transport.
