A 5-string Jazz Bass Designed for Modern Playing
This Player II Modified Active Jazz Bass V embodies the Fender spirit: the ergonomics and sonic identity of the Jazz Bass, enhanced with current performance-oriented features. The presence of an active preamp, tone control usable in both active and passive modes, and noiseless pickups make it a bass tailored for modern setups, without sacrificing the fundamentals.
For Which Bassists and Styles?
With its 5th string and comprehensive electronics, it is especially suited for intermediate to advanced bassists looking for an effective bass for rehearsals, stage, or home studio. It covers pop, rock, funk, soul, gospel, and contemporary music very well, where definition, punch, and a wide range of tonal adjustments are required. The passive mode also facilitates access to a more direct sound, ideal for players who enjoy "plug and play" sensations.
The Sound
The alder body provides a classic balance: present low-mids, good articulation, and versatility, perfectly serving the Jazz Bass DNA. The two Player II Noiseless Jazz Bass V pickups retain the clarity and bite of single-coil format while limiting background noise, useful with bright settings or effects. The pan pot allows fine blending of neck and bridge pickups to move from a round, full low end to a tighter, more incisive sound. The 3-band active preamp (bass, mid, treble) extends the range of tonal shaping to sculpt the mix, while the Active/Passive Tone control helps soften or open the high end depending on fingerstyle, pick, or slap playing.
Recommended Compatible Accessories
This bass comes with a Deluxe Gig Bag. The Fender USA 7250-5M Nickel Plated Steel Strings (.045-.125) installed from the factory are also a simple reference to keep when replacing strings, to maintain the same tension and tone balance.
