This Fender Eric Johnson Signature pre-wired pickguard is designed for guitarists who want to keep the authentic Strat tone while gaining presence and expressiveness. The pickups offer a slightly warmer output than typical vintage models, with a very musical balance between attack, definition, and thickness, ideal for switching from precise rhythm playing to leads that stand out in the mix.
Simple Installation for True "Plug and Play" (Almost)
The electronics are already installed with quality components, such as CTS 250K potentiometers and cloth-covered wiring. For installation, simply remove your current pickguard, solder the output jack and ground wires, then screw on the new pickguard: you immediately benefit from a clean and reliable circuit, perfect for modernizing a Stratocaster hassle-free.
Three Complementary Pickups: Clarity, Balance, and a Beefier Bridge
The neck pickup is inspired by a 1954 Strat model with oversized Alnico 3 magnets for round and detailed tones. The middle pickup, based on a 1963 spirit, uses treated Alnico magnets and a reverse-wound, reverse-polarity (RWRP) coil to achieve quieter intermediate positions. The bridge pickup, with Alnico 5 magnets, is calibrated to be warmer without losing high-end sparkle, maintaining Fender brightness even with overdrive.
