A Modernized Precision Bass: The "Player II Modified" Spirit
Inspired by the DNA of the Precision Bass, this Player II Modified pushes the concept towards a contemporary stage bass: current playing feel, full active electronics, and components designed for reliability. It retains the iconic tone and ergonomics of the Precision Bass format while adding a wider range of controls, ideal for quickly adapting to a mix, backline, or different style.
For Which Bassist and Styles
This bass is particularly aimed at intermediate to advanced bassists who want a versatile instrument ready for rehearsal and stage. The Precision plus Jazz combination and the 3-band preamp easily cover pop, rock, funk, RnB, variety, gospel, and studio contexts where a solid low end with controlled definition is required.
The Sound
The alder body provides a classic balance: present low mids, good foundation, and even response. The maple neck and maple fingerboard promote a clear attack and increased note definition, especially appreciated when playing fingerstyle or with a pick.
Regarding pickups, the Precision pickup at the neck delivers punch and density that "fill" the mix, while the Jazz Noiseless pickup at the bridge adds precision, character, and articulation. The pan pot allows fine blending of the two sources. In active mode, the bass / midrange / treble EQ helps instantly sculpt your place in the band; in passive mode, you get a more direct response with a tone that can soften the attack without losing the instrument's personality.
Recommended Compatible Accessories
To maintain the original feel and balance, you can opt for an identical set of strings: Fender USA 7250M Nickel Plated Steel .045-.105 (PN 0737250406).
