A Fender Classic Brought to Its Peak
The American Ultra II Precision Bass represents the pinnacle of modern luthiery at Fender USA. It carries the iconic Precision DNA and combines it with comfort innovations ("Ultra" bevels, rounded fretboard edges) and high-end electronics. Offered here in Ultraburst finish with quartersawn maple fingerboard, it is also available in the series with ebony fingerboard.
For Which Musician and Styles?
Ideal for intermediate to professional bassists requiring a touring and studio bass. The passive mode delivers the authentic Precision/Jazz tone for rock, pop, and soul. The active mode expands the palette toward modern funk, R&B, fusion, and contemporary music, with clear articulation and powerful foundation.
The Sound
The Precision pickup in the middle provides the meaty attack and iconic midrange presence, while the Jazz bridge pickup adds definition and brightness to cut through the mix. The Ultra II Noiseless pickups eliminate hum without sacrificing character. The Ultra II active preamp (S-1) offers volume, pan, bass/treble, and stacked mid boost/cut controls, plus a mini-toggle to select mid frequency (325 Hz for punch, 750 Hz for scoop). Selected alder, 34" / 864 mm scale length, and HiMass bridge promote sustain, projection, and tuning stability.
Recommended Compatible Accessories
- 34" long scale strings with .045-.105 gauge (original Fender 7250M set) to maintain tension/attack balance. - Wide 2" strap with standard strap buttons. - 6.35 mm instrument cable, straight or right-angled on the bass side depending on your output preference.
