American Ultra II: The Modern Evolution of the High-End Stratocaster
This Fender American Ultra II Stratocaster follows the lineage of Strats designed for demanding musicians: an iconic base enhanced with comfort improvements, tuning stability, and upgraded electronics. The Ultraburst finish, "Ultra" ergonomics (bevels and sculpted heel), and a decidedly modern approach (Noiseless pickups, S-1 switch, locking tuners) make it a Strat built for both stage and studio.
Who is it for, and what styles?
Ideal for intermediate to expert guitarists seeking a versatile, reliable, and quiet American Stratocaster. Its Strat DNA is perfectly suited for blues, funk, pop, rock, indie, and more modern genres where precision and noise-free performance make a difference, especially with effects, moderate to high gain, and studio signal chains.
Sound
The selected alder body provides a typical Fender balance: present mids, clear highs, and firm lows, ideal for preserving the attack and definition of a Strat. The Ultra II Noiseless Vintage Strat pickups deliver the expected "glassy" and dynamic character of single coils while greatly reducing unwanted noise-a real plus with pedals and on brightly lit stages. The 5-position selector covers traditional sounds (snappy bridge, precise middle, warm and singing neck), while the S-1 expands the palette by adding the neck pickup in positions 1 and 2 for thicker, more enveloping textures. The 2-point tremolo, cold-rolled steel block, and polished stainless steel saddles contribute to a more stable response, with good sustain feel and effective tuning stability.
Recommended Compatible Accessories
To stay within original specifications, prefer electric string sets .009-.042 (nickel plated steel type). A good quality 6.35 mm instrument jack cable is obviously recommended to fully benefit from the electronics and playing nuances. A hard case is not essential here, as the guitar comes with a Deluxe Molded Case.

Questions frequently asked
Are the pickups on this Stratocaster quiet with effects?
The three Ultra II Noiseless Vintage Strat pickups significantly reduce unwanted noise while maintaining the clear and dynamic character associated with single coils. This SSS configuration is suitable for effects chains and moderate to high gain settings.
What does the S-1 switch do on the Fender Stratocaster American Ultra II?
The S-1 switch built into the volume control adds the neck pickup to positions 1 and 2 on the selector. This enables bridge/neck and bridge/middle/neck combinations for thicker tones.
What is the neck profile and fingerboard radius?
A quarter-sawn maple neck with a Modern “D” profile is paired with an ebony fingerboard. The compound radius goes from 10 to 14 inches (254 to 355.6 mm) on a 25.5-inch (647.7 mm) scale length. The 22 frets and 42.8 mm nut width complete these specs.
Does the vibrato hold tuning well?
Tuning stability relies on a two-point vibrato, a Graph Tech TUSQ nut, and Deluxe Cast/Sealed Locking tuners with short posts. The setup also features a cold-rolled steel block and polished stainless steel saddles.
What case and strings are supplied or recommended?
A Deluxe Molded Case is included with the guitar. Nickel-plated steel electric strings with a gauge of .009-.042 are recommended to maintain the original specifications.
