A signature Telecaster Thinline, inspired by Jim Adkins' TC-90
Developed in collaboration with Jim Adkins (Jimmy Eat World), the JA-90 Telecaster Thinline captures the spirit of the Fender TC-90 beloved by the artist, while pushing further in terms of craftsmanship and electronics. The combination of a semi-hollow ash body, set neck, and Seymour Duncan P90s delivers a signature Telecaster with a strong character, built for punchy rhythms and expressive leads.
Who it's for and suitable styles
This electric guitar is aimed at intermediate to advanced guitarists seeking a different Telecaster, more organic and beefier in the mids. It excels in alternative rock, indie, pop-punk, power-pop, and any style requiring responsiveness, dynamics, and clear chord definition. The Thinline format and access to individual pickup controls also make it an excellent studio option.
Sound
The semi-hollow ash body provides natural resonance and a "lively" feel under the fingers, while retaining attack and projection. The combination with a set maple neck promotes direct response and generous sustain, especially enjoyable when playing with a pick.
On the electronics side, the Seymour Duncan SP90 (Soap Bar format P90s) deliver a tone that is both edgy and thick: more body than a standard single coil, but with very responsive articulation and dynamics. The 3-position selector facilitates quick changes, and the four potentiometers (volume and tone for each pickup) allow precise level balancing, darkening one pickup without affecting the other, or sculpting very coherent rhythm/lead sounds live.
Recommended compatible accessories
To stay true to the original specifications, this guitar comes with Fender USA 250L Nickel Plated Steel strings in gauge 009-042 (PN 0730250403). For transport, the recommended case by the manufacturer is the Deluxe Stratocaster/Telecaster Molded Case (reference 0996102306, not included).
