A Signature Thinline Inspired by Jim Adkins' Telecaster
Developed in collaboration with Jim Adkins, the JA-90 Telecaster Thinline captures the spirit of the guitars used by the Jimmy Eat World frontman in the mid-2000s, based on his TC-90 Telecaster. The concept: a semi-hollow Tele with a strong character, combining the familiarity of the Telecaster format with a broader and "softer" high-end response, while retaining the necessary punch for tight rhythms and open choruses.
Who Is It For and What Styles?
This guitar is especially suited for intermediate to advanced guitarists seeking a Telecaster different from traditional single-coil configurations. It excels in pop-punk, alternative rock, indie, emo, power-pop, and any genre where full-bodied chords are desired without losing definition. The shorter 24.75" / 629 mm scale length promotes a flexible feel under the fingers, ideal for singing bends and energetic playing.
The Sound
The semi-hollow (Thinline) construction on an ash body adds air and natural resonance: chords gain breadth, and attacks become rounder without fading too quickly. The Seymour Duncan P-90s are the heart of the tone: at the neck, the SP90-1N RWRP Vintage P-90 delivers an articulate warmth, perfect for thick arpeggios and detailed cleans; at the bridge, the SP90-3 Custom P-90 pushes harder, with a present midrange and sharp attack to cut through a rock mix. The 3-position selector allows instant switching from a muscular edge to a smoother texture, while the 2 volumes + 2 tones (one per pickup) offer true balance and tonal control, very useful for dialing in verse/chorus sounds without extra pedals.
Recommended Compatible Accessories
