Thanks to the combination of J-style and MM-style pickups and the active/passive switching, it easily covers funk, rock, pop, modern metal, and groove contexts requiring precision and presence in the mix. Its long scale length adds tension and definition, especially appreciated when playing fingerstyle, with a pick, or slap.

Sound

Ash delivers a clear attack, solid lows, and airy highs with excellent clarity. The maple neck and maple fingerboard enhance snap and precision, perfect for articulated lines and harmonics. Regarding pickups, the EMG J at the neck provides a defined and balanced tone, while the EMG MM-TW at the bridge adds punch and a very modern power reserve. The active electronics increase dynamics and projection, and switching to passive mode via the push-pull allows a return to a more direct and organic response, useful for varying tonal colors without changing basses.

Recommended Compatible Accessories

To maintain the original feel and balance, you can use a set of D'Addario EXL165 strings in 45-105 gauge (same gauge as factory-installed) in long scale format suitable for a 34" / 864 mm scale length. A comfortable strap for bass and a good quality 6.35 mm jack cable complete an ideal stage/rehearsal setup.
