A Modern Reed Inspired by Cane, by Fiberreed
Developed in partnership with Swiss saxophonist Roland Graf, the Fiberreed G-SAX combines the "cane feel" approach with modern manufacturing based on carbon fiber. Based on the design of the Carbon reed, it aims to preserve saxophonists' familiar benchmarks (balance, flexibility, stability) while providing a consistency that is difficult to achieve with natural reeds.
For Which Saxophonist and Styles?
This reed is intended for beginner to advanced saxophonists seeking a stable and consistent solution from day to day, whether for home practice, rehearsal, or performance. Its pursuit of a warm character makes it particularly suited to jazz, pop, chamber music, and wind orchestra settings, where a full, easy-to-shape, and homogeneous sound is appreciated.
Sound and Design
The G-SAX features a curved heart-shaped cut : thicker in the center, then gradually thinner towards the sides and tip, similar to a cane reed. This geometry promotes easy response and a soft timbre, while maintaining good stability across the alto saxophone's registers. The carbon fiber provides a highly valued stability : the reed does not absorb moisture, does not dry out, and remains consistent even after long playing sessions, offering a reliable and predictable playing experience.
Recommended Compatible Accessories
To get the best from this reed, use a ligature for alto saxophone mouthpiece suited to your mouthpiece model, as well as a mouthpiece cap to protect the setup between pieces. An alto saxophone swab is also an excellent complement for general instrument maintenance.
- 100% ready to play straight out of the box
- Easy to clean, hygienic and odorless, even after months of use
