An "Artist" Reed Born from Rigorous Workshop Work
The RPL model is the first in the Fiberreed Artist series. It was designed based on the needs of a musician-educator accustomed to the demands of the classical repertoire: stability, attack precision, and note purity. The cuts were refined in the factory after long adjustment sessions, balancing the material until achieving a coherent reed, designed to offer reliable behavior from one session to the next.
For Which Tenor Saxophonist?
This reed is primarily intended for intermediate to advanced saxophonists seeking a structured response and clean playing, particularly in classical music (studies, wind orchestra, contemporary repertoire, sound work). Its profile will also suit musicians who want very clear articulation and stable note holding during intonation, dynamics, and phrasing practice. At strength 2.0, it remains accessible for building a centered sound without requiring an excessively hard embouchure.
Sound and Design
Thanks to a traditional curved cut and a pronounced heart, the Fiberreed RPL aims for a pure sound, with precise articulation and well-balanced resistance under the lip. The timbre is designed to stay centered and controllable, with consistent sound production and appreciable stability in sustained passages. The composite material (alternating layers of carbon fibers and hollow fibers ) provides a consistent feel: the reed does not behave "differently" depending on humidity, which ensures homogeneous playing and limits surprises when performing.
Recommended Compatible Accessories
Since this reed is designed for tenor saxophone, it should be used with a tenor sax mouthpiece and a tenor sax ligature. For maintenance, a simple swab and a soft cloth are sufficient to keep the reed clean and hygienic after playing.
