Fluence Modern: a third voice since 2023
This evolution of the Fishman Fluence Modern Humbucker series, introduced in 2023, complements the existing Voice 1 and Voice 2 with a new optimized single-coil voice. The aim: to expand the tonal possibilities of these active pickups while retaining the qualities that make the Alnico and Ceramic pairing so appealing.
A set for exploring the full range of your 8-string
This set is designed for guitarists who want to move from hard-hitting riffs to full chords and fluid solos on an 8-string guitar. The Alnico pickup delivers musicality, power, and expressiveness, while the Ceramic pickup emphasizes attack and punch. Their complementary qualities suit modern playing styles that demand multiple textures from a single instrument.
Alnico, Ceramic, and single-coil: complementary characters
The Modern Humbucker Alnico emphasizes full chords and fluid solo lines. It can be used in either the neck or bridge position, although it is generally paired with a Ceramic pickup at the bridge. The Modern Humbucker Ceramic can also be used in either position; its usual pairing with an Alnico pickup at the neck brings together two distinct personalities.
On each pickup, the third voice adds a split-coil-style sound to the two existing voices. This gives you an additional single-coil color for varying textures and keeps your guitar from being limited to the humbucker register alone.
