Travel Series: the "adventurer" spirit according to Flight

The Flight TUS35 is part of the Travel Series Collection, a range designed for those who want an easy-to-handle instrument to take everywhere, much less sensitive to everyday constraints than a fully wooden ukulele. Here, Flight relies on a construction mainly made of ABS plastic, combined with a laminated wood soundboard: a technical choice that prioritizes longevity, stability, and consistency, without sacrificing true musicality.

Within this series, the TUS35 stands out with its laminated basswood soundboard (while other models in the range may use different tonewoods). The result: a modern, robust instrument, particularly reassuring for beginners or for multiplying "off-the-beaten-path" experiences (travel, outdoors, rehearsals, lessons, lending to a friend).

A soprano ukulele made for beginners... and for stepping off the beaten path

With its soprano size and 15 frets, the Flight TUS35 naturally targets beginners looking for a simple, reliable, and comfortable instrument. The playing feel remains consistent even when the environment changes (heating, air conditioning, travel), thanks to the ABS neck and fingerboard that do not "move" like wood.

This ukulele will also suit more experienced musicians seeking a backup instrument: easy to carry, durable, and expressive enough to work on rhythm, accompaniment, or melodic parts. Its "bright and funky" character makes it comfortable for pop, reggae, funk, acoustic covers, vocal accompaniment, or percussive playing where clarity is a real asset.

Clarity, present mids, and projection: the contribution of the basswood soundboard and arched back

The TUS35's sound personality primarily comes from its laminated basswood soundboard. Basswood is appreciated for its lively response and brightness: it promotes a clear attack, well-defined chords, and easy reading of rhythms. In laminated form, it gains resistance and stability, perfectly matching the "travel" philosophy of the series.

The ABS body with arched back plays a major role in projection. This wider, curved shape enhances the sense of volume and emphasizes additional presence in the midrange, with a more open resonance than a traditional soprano. The result is a clear sound that carries well and remains consistent over time, even when the instrument is subjected to humidity changes.

For comfort and tuning stability, the presence of a zero fret combined with an ABS nut and saddle helps maintain comfortable action and more stable intonation. The choice of ABS for these parts limits micro-variations related to the material, which is especially appreciated on an instrument meant to be transported and played everywhere.
