A Signature Model with a Distinctive Character in the Royal Series
The Flight Peter Moss Signature Concert Electro follows the brand’s approach to signature instruments: offering a model that faithfully reflects the touch, sound and aesthetics of a specific artist. Flight introduced this model in March 2022 in collaboration with Peter Moss, a musician who was already playing a Flight Spirit Concert and wanted to retain several features he appreciated, such as the sculpted cutaway, offset markers, active pickup and Flight signature headstock. The true uniqueness of this version lies in its spruce and mahogany combination, conceived by the brand as a distinctive pairing within its range.
An Electro-Acoustic Ukulele Designed for Expressive Playing
This model is primarily aimed at musicians looking to move beyond a basic beginner ukulele and upgrade to an instrument that is more nuanced, stable and inspiring. Its concert size offers a good compromise between compactness, left-hand comfort and attack clarity, making it well suited to intermediate and advanced players, while remaining accessible to demanding beginners who want to invest directly in a beautiful instrument. It is particularly well suited to fingerstyle, chord melody, pop, folk and acoustic accompaniment, as well as live performance thanks to its built-in electronics.
A Balanced Sound Combining Brightness, Warmth and Definition
Sonically, the solid spruce top provides attack, precision and clear projection, while the solid mahogany back and sides add greater roundness, warmth and midrange density. This combination works particularly well on a concert-size instrument, as it retains the lively, singing character that many players seek from this body size without becoming overly dry. The rosewood key and bridge contribute to a softer treble response, with a pleasant touch under the fingers.
The construction further enhances this character. The sculpted cutaway facilitates access to the upper positions while preserving more of the body’s response than a more conventional cutaway, and the string-through bridge promotes direct vibration transfer to the top. The result: the Peter Moss Signature retains beautiful sustain, good note-to-note clarity and a responsive attack that is equally useful for arpeggios and strumming. When amplified, the Double C1U active system reproduces this character with a discreet solution, as the controls are positioned beneath the soundhole to preserve the instrument’s clean lines.
Recommended Compatible Accessories
If you want to complete the instrument without the risk of choosing incorrectly, the safest option is a set of concert ukulele strings in standard GCEA tuning, as this model comes fitted as standard with Worth Brown strings. For everyday transport and protection, the padded 20 mm deluxe gig bag supplied as standard already covers the essentials, and the Royal Series also includes a humidifier suitable for maintaining an all-solid instrument.
