Flight TUS40 ABS Travel Uke - Kitty -

An Iconic Model from the Flight Travel Series

Founded in Slovenia in 2010, Flight has established itself internationally with a simple philosophy: to offer accessible, attractive and dependable instruments for all types of musicians. The Travel Series is clearly part of the brand's DNA, to the point that Flight presents it as one of its most recognised ranges.

Within this range, the TUS40 Kitty follows the recipe behind the success of Flight travel ukuleles: a structure resistant to climatic variations, low weight, a strong visual identity and a genuine focus on playability. This model stands out above all for its "Kitty" graphic design, which gives it an immediately recognisable personality without compromising the series' fundamentals.

An Ideal Travel Ukulele for Beginners, Gifting or Playing Anywhere

The Flight TUS40 ABS Travel Uke Kitty is primarily aimed at beginners, accompanied children, occasional players and anyone looking for an easy-to-live-with soprano ukulele. Flight also presents its Travel Ukuleles as particularly suitable for children, travellers and adventurers thanks to their durability and minimal maintenance requirements.

Its soprano format is well suited to light strumming, sing-along accompaniment, pop, folk, nursery rhymes, acoustic covers and learning the basics of strumming. It is also an excellent second instrument for musicians who already own gear and want a sturdy uke to take on holiday, to informal rehearsals or while travelling, without having to worry too much about the instrument's construction. This assessment of its intended use follows directly from its format, ABS construction and place within the Travel Series.

A Clear, Lively and Immediate Sound

The laminated basswood top plays a central role in this model's tonal character. Flight pairs this wood with a bright response, resulting in a lively, percussive soprano ukulele with clear-sounding open chords. This suggests a straightforward and direct tonal register, with a crisp attack that works particularly well for rhythmic accompaniment and simple melodies.

The ABS arched back contributes to the model's overall concept: being less sensitive to changes in temperature and humidity, it supports practical projection for a travel instrument while keeping maintenance to a minimum. The ABS neck and key also help avoid common issues on instruments frequently exposed to changing climates, such as protruding fret ends or neck deformation. In use, this translates into a more consistent uke that is ready to play more often than it needs adjustment.

The zero fret and bridge design are intended to maintain low action and consistent intonation. On a small soprano format, this is a real advantage: the instrument remains easy under the fingers, chords require less effort, and the overall feel is more welcoming from the very first minutes.

Recommended Compatible Accessories

If you want to choose a truly suitable consumable for this model, the safest option remains a set of Aquila Nylgut soprano ukulele strings. This is the original string set specified by Flight for the TUS40 Kitty, making it possible to recover the feel and tonal balance intended by the brand after replacement. In addition, a gig bag is already included with the instrument.
