A "homegrown" preamp inspired by Fulltone's warmest circuits

The Fulltone 2B Booster is built around the same warm preamp spirit found in some Fulltone circuits like the Supa-Trem or the True-Path ABY. The idea is not to heavily color the tone, but to add that extra presence and sustain that makes a difference when playing loud, with an amp already on the edge of break-up or a long pedalboard chain. In the lineup, it stands as a tone-enhancing tool: a transparent yet intelligent booster capable of smoothing out what becomes harsh at high volume.

Who is it for? A stage and studio booster, from clean to heavy crunch

The 2B Booster is aimed at guitarists who want more level, more foundation, and more clarity without resorting to surgical EQ or an overly bright boost. It suits beginners (simple controls, immediate results) as well as seasoned musicians looking for an "always on" booster.

Ideal for blues, rock, pop, country, and all styles where you play with pick dynamics and guitar volume. In the studio, it helps achieve more stable and better "anchored" takes. Live, it serves both to cut through the band for a solo and to solidify a rhythm sound when drums and bass take up space.

Controls and operation: a boost plus controlled dynamics

The Gain control increases the level up to 20 dB, handy for pushing an amp input, thickening a crunch channel, or restoring level after a demanding effects chain. The Dynamics control acts on an additional germanium diode limiter circuit: it adds firmness in the lows, limits some overly aggressive peaks, and contributes to a more "held" playing feel.

Another key point: its JFET stage serves as a buffer even when the pedal is bypassed. The result: better preservation of useful highs and attack over long cable runs, while avoiding the "shrill treble" effect that can appear when boosting hard with certain setups. This approach is especially relevant if you switch between multiple guitars or have a dense, demanding pedalboard.

Regarding power, the pedal accepts a 9V to 18V DC range. Running at 18V generally increases headroom before internal clipping and provides a broader, more open feel, which can be an asset with high-output pickups or high boost settings.

The sound

The character of the Fulltone 2B Booster can be summed up in one word: clean, but not cold. The boost remains transparent, with a "warm" preamp feel that respects both the guitar and the amp. At high volume, where some boosters become too harsh in the treble, the 2B aims to stabilize the top end and maintain a pleasant presence, without veil or excessive harshness.

The Dynamics control provides a more controlled response: the lows hold better, the attack feels more focused, and the sound tends to sit better in a busy mix. In practice, this helps keep the necessary bite to be heard while avoiding aggressive peaks that tire the ear on stage. If you like to shape your sound with pick attack and guitar volume, you will appreciate the responsiveness and the feeling of "support" rather than squashed compression.
