Several OCD Generations in a Single Pedal
The Fulltone OCD LUX brings together several versions of the OCD in a two-section format. On the left, VTG mode recreates the original V1.7 circuit. On the right, a selector gives you access to either the standard OCD V2 circuit or the Custom Shop Germanium version. This architecture lets you explore different facets of the OCD family without having to use multiple pedals.
RAW mode expands this palette with a more open, more aggressive and less compressed response. The LUX is therefore about more than simply choosing a version: its two circuits can also be used together, with separate settings, to create overdrive tailored to your guitar and amplifier.
Two Gain Stages for Blues, Rock and Evolving Pedalboards
This guitar overdrive pedal is designed for musicians who want several gain levels immediately accessible. You can set up your main overdrive on one section, reserve the other for a more pronounced passage, then engage both to thicken the sound. This is a practical setup for live performance, especially when switching from rhythm playing to a solo without readjusting the controls.
From blues to heavier rock, the OCD LUX also offers plenty of room for experimentation in the studio. Its separate inputs and outputs will particularly appeal to guitarists who like to work on the order of their effects. The independent controls make it easy to balance the two sections, whether you are looking for complementary sounds or two clearly distinct textures.
Independent Controls and Genuine Routing Options
Each section has its own Volume, Drive and Tone controls for adjusting the output level, overdrive and tonal color respectively. A HP/LP, High Peak / Low Peak selector also lets you adjust the EQ of each circuit. The two footswitches control the sections independently, giving you direct access to each overdrive and to their combination.
For standard operation, connect your guitar to RIGHT IN and your amplifier to LEFT OUT. The right-hand V2/GE circuit then feeds the left-hand V1.7/RAW circuit through an internal connection. No additional patch cable is required between the two sections in this configuration.
The RIGHT OUT and LEFT IN jacks open up further possibilities: inserting a pedal between the two overdrive stages, placing the sections at different points in the signal chain or changing their order through external routing. The OCD LUX also features Fulltone's Enhanced Bypass system.
The Sound
The strength of the OCD LUX lies in the variety of its overdrive responses. VTG mode provides access to the character of the V1.7, while the right-hand section lets you choose between the V2 and Custom Shop Germanium circuits. The separate controls invite you to compare these different colors, but above all to make them work together.
RAW mode stands out with more volume, aggression and dynamics, along with less compression. Its more open and modern response is ideal for pushing an amplifier or adding bite. Engaging both circuits produces a richer, more powerful and denser overdrive, with its balance determined by the settings of each gain stage and their order in the signal chain.
