The Missing Link Between Vintage Overdrive and Modern Distortion

Born from the DNA of the original PlimSoul, this MkII version takes the concept further: it combines the creaminess of a "Tube Screamer"-type overdrive (soft clipping in the op-amp loop) with the bite of a "RAT/Distortion+" style distortion (referenced hard clipping), while delivering the SAG feel of a tube rectifier. Within the Fulltone range, the PlimSoul MkII holds the position as the most versatile overdrive/distortion, suitable for both stage and studio use.

For Which Guitarists and Styles?

From blues to classic rock, indie to post-rock, the PlimSoul MkII excels wherever an expressive grain that responds to touch is sought. Easy to integrate on a pedalboard thanks to its top-mounted jacks, it performs equally well as a pedal-platform in front of a clean amp or to "push" an already crunchy channel. It stacks very well with boosts and other overdrives.

Controls and Innovations Serving the Playing Experience

The Soft-Clip / Hard-Clip duo is now truly independent: you can achieve a muscular and percussive drive by increasing the Hard-Clip even with little Soft-Clip. The hard clipping uses referenced germanium diodes (Vref) for a more organic attack, while the very asymmetrical soft clipping retains compression and sustain. The mini Treble potentiometer now adds more sparkle, and the Bass switch (Min/Half/Max) tightens the lows without muddiness, just before the Hard-Clip stage to keep the bass clean and defined. The top-mounted jacks and DC port facilitate wiring; True Bypass switching guarantees a pure signal path when off.

The Sound

Transparent when desired, colored when needed, the PlimSoul MkII covers a wide spectrum: slight "edge of breakup," articulated crunch, singing lead, and thick but clear distortion. The dynamics follow the pick attack and the guitar's volume knob, with controlled lows and adjustable bright highs. It is aimed at those who want to regain the responsiveness of a tube amp underfoot, with a grain that can be shaped from smooth velvet to biting edge.
