Historical Context and Positioning Within the Range

In drum hardware, small wear parts often make the difference between a quiet, reliable setup that respects the instrument and a cymbal stand that becomes misaligned or damages components. The SC-MCW washers fit into this maintenance accessory logic: a simple, robust, and universal solution designed to optimize the interface between felts and the metal elements of the stand on 8 mm threads.

Who This Accessory Is For

These washers are intended for all drummers, from beginners to professionals, as well as backline technicians and studios. They are especially useful if you frequently assemble/disassemble your kit, play loudly, or seek a stable setup for demanding styles (rock, metal, energetic funk), where vibrations and shocks put more stress on felts and hardware. They are also well suited for lighter configurations (jazz, pop) whenever you want to preserve the cymbal and maintain a consistent playing feel.

Questions frequently asked

Are Gibraltar SC-MCW cymbal cups compatible with my cymbal stand?

They are designed to fit M8 threaded rods, which are 8 mm in diameter. They install on cymbal stands that use this threading standard.

How many metal washers are included?

The package includes 4 grey metal washers.

Do the SC-MCW cups protect the cymbal from metal-to-metal contact?

Placed between the felts and the hardware, these steel washers limit direct contact with metal parts. This reduces micro-marks on the mounting hole and bell of the cymbal. It also helps keep the felt stack better centered.

Can these cups be used to replace worn washers on a cymbal stand?

The set of 4 allows replacement of washers on setups with an 8 mm threaded rod. The durable metal construction is designed to provide a stable support surface under the felts.

Do these washers affect the cymbal's vibration?

Used with felts in good condition, the M8 washers help maintain vibration freedom by preventing metal-to-metal contact. This can help preserve more consistent response and sustain.
