A modern Hummingbird, faithful to a classic born in 1960

Introduced in 1960, the Hummingbird established itself as one of Gibson's most recognizable acoustics, both by its square-shouldered silhouette and its sonic identity. The Hummingbird Special retains the essential markers of the model (mother-of-pearl parallelogram inlays, belly-up bridge, iconic look) while adopting a more "modern" and pragmatic approach: optimized body depth, nitrocellulose satin finish, and integrated electro-acoustic equipment to meet the needs of today's guitarists.

Who the Hummingbird Special is for: stage, home studio, and pick playing

This Hummingbird is aimed at intermediate to advanced guitarists who want a characterful acoustic, immediately usable with amplification, without compromising on craftsmanship. Its balanced temperament makes it very comfortable in folk, pop, country, and acoustic rock, with excellent performance both for pick accompaniment and fingerpicking. The "concert depth" body also enhances comfort during long sessions, whether rehearsing or on stage.

Sound: warmth, balance, and tighter bass thanks to the concert depth body

The acoustic recipe relies on a solid Sitka spruce top, known for its dynamic range and projection, paired with solid mahogany back and sides that provide immediate warmth, present mids, and a balanced response. The scalloped X-bracing helps the top vibrate more freely, resulting in expressive attack and natural sustain. The "concert depth" feature refines the low end: the bass gains precision, the guitar sits easily in a mix, and it maintains a full sound without becoming overpowering.

Recommended compatible accessories

The guitar comes with a premium soft shell case, making it ready for travel. The electronics feature a volume control on the rosette: a standard instrument jack cable will be suitable for connection to an acoustic amplifier or DI box (not included).
