A 60s Legend in the Lineage of the "King of the Flat-Tops"
Born in 1937, the SJ-200 established itself as the reference for jumbo guitars. The 60s Original edition revives the aesthetics and feel of the models celebrated in the sixties, seen with major artists. Premium woods, checkerboard purfling, and an adorned pickguard mark a collectible instrument designed for both stage and studio.
Who Is It For, and What Styles?
Designed for intermediate to professional guitarists, the SJ-200 60s Original excels in powerful strumming, vocal accompaniment, folk/rock, country, and pop. Its large body provides a stable rhythmic foundation and excellent projection, ideal for composing, recording, and live playing, including in open tunings.
Sound
The jumbo format delivers a broad bass, present mids, and remarkable headroom. The AAA Sitka spruce top offers attack, dynamics, and precise pick response, while the AAA flamed maple back and sides tighten the low end and highlight mid-high articulation. The bone nuts optimize sustain and tuning stability. Plugged in, the L.R. Baggs VTC provides natural reproduction via an under-saddle pickup, with discreet volume/tone controls mounted in the soundhole.
Recommended Compatible Accessories
To maintain power and clarity, choose .012-.053 phosphor bronze strings for steel-string acoustics, a capo for a curved fingerboard, and a humidifier (case or soundhole) to stabilize humidity. A hard case is included.
