From the Everly Brothers' Heritage to a Reissued Legend

Born from the instruments played by Phil and Don Everly, the J-180 revives the energy of early rock'n'roll. Part of the Custom Shop Artist series, it respects historical codes - Ebony finish in nitrocellulose lacquer, double "moustache" pickguard, mother-of-pearl stars - while benefiting from precise contemporary manufacturing.

Who Is It For and Which Styles?

Designed for intermediate to expert musicians, the J-180 excels in strumming, rhythmic accompaniment, and singing with guitar. Its Jumbo body and short scale length promote comfort, projection, and a soft touch. Perfect for folk, rock, country, and pop, it remains responsive enough for dynamic fingerstyle playing.

Sound

The Sitka spruce top provides dynamic range and definition, while the maple back and sides add brightness, articulation, and the very direct projection typical of Jumbos. The hand-scalloped X bracing maximizes responsiveness and sustain, with prominent mids that naturally cut through the mix. On stage, the L.R. Baggs VTC offers a balanced and faithful signal; volume and tone controls housed in the soundhole allow instant adjustments without compromising aesthetics.

Recommended Compatible Accessories

A set of 12-53 phosphor bronze acoustic strings will preserve the original balance. Add a radius-compatible 12" acoustic capo, a comfortable strap (with headstock attachment if needed), a 1/4" mono jack cable for stage connection, and a case humidifier to stabilize humidity.
