An Iconic "King of the Flat-Tops" Returned to the Stage
The Gibson Elvis SJ-200 pays tribute to the King's favorite instrument, based on an SJ-200 gifted to Elvis at RCA Studio B in Nashville in the mid-1960s. Used during many concerts, this guitar was later given to his friend Marty Lacker at Graceland in 1976. It continues to uphold the SJ-200's position at the top of Gibson's acoustic range.
For Which Guitarist and Styles?
Designed for intermediate to professional musicians, the SJ-200 excels in powerful strumming as well as dynamic fingerpicking. Perfect for stage and studio, it shines in rock, country, folk, pop, and singer-songwriter repertoires, with projection that supports both vocals and ensemble.
Sound
The large Super Jumbo body offers broad projection and a generous low end, while the maple adds clarity, articulation, and controlled brightness. The Sitka spruce top ensures responsiveness and headroom, with long sustain and well-defined attack. Plugged in, the LR Baggs VTC system delivers a natural and balanced tone, ideal for demanding stage environments.
Recommended Compatible Accessories
Fit a set of 12-53 phosphor bronze steel strings to balance projection and comfort. Since the Gibson hard case is included, consider a case humidifier and a hygrometer for wood stability. A standard 2-point acoustic guitar strap and a 6-string acoustic capo will efficiently complete your setup.
